
Charles Ellis “Bud” Lucas, 89, passed away on March 5th, 2016 at Hendricks Regional Health Hospital in Danville, Indiana with his children by his side. He was born on July 24th, 1926 in Martinsville, Indiana to Peter and Jessie (Ellis) Lucas.
Bud graduated in 1944 from Eminence High School in Indiana before joining the US Army Air Corps. He served throughout the end of World War II before being discharged in 1946. Included among his duty stations was Shemya Island in the Aleutians where he was an aircraft mechanic on the B-29 and P-38 as well as a movie projectionist. He later worked as an electrician and field service engineer for several companies until finally retiring as an electrical engineer for the City of Indianapolis, Department of Public Works.
Bud was an avid dancer with a notable mastery of the jitterbug. He also enjoyed photography, golf, bowling, and was a master marksman.
Bud was happily married to Donna Sue (Smith) Lucas for 54 years when she preceded him in death in 2006. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his sister Betty, and two infant children.
Bud is survived by his daughters Lorie (John) Yeftich of Dardenne Prairie, Missouri and Diane (Doug) Sharp of Brownsburg, Indiana, as well as his son Eric Lucas of Lafayette, Indiana; his grandchildren Taylor (Jon) O’Leary, Alex Yeftich, Jacob Sharp, Jordan Lucas, and Jenna Sharp; his other relatives and friends.
There will be no funeral services held.
